Lions Sports Academy Coaches Leanne Riley (England & Harlequins Womens) and Holly Myers (Harlequins Womens) performed a coaching session at Pulborough RFC on Sunday for some of the clubs girls teams. It was a fantastic turnout by the girls and being coached by two amazing players was a massive thing for some of the girls. Lions Sports Academy, lead by CEO Andy Jones, performed a coaching masterclass at Wimbledonian Warriors on Wednesday evening. All coaches from Wimbledonian Warriors and other clubs were invitied along to learn about new drills that they could use when coaching or improve already existing drills that they are using. Three of Lions Sports Academy’s top coaches performed four days of coaching masterclasses at St Thomas’ School in Clapham this week. Harlequins and England Scrum Half Leanne Riley, Wasps and England International Katie Mason and Harlequins winger Holly Myers each coached two specific skills blocks that focused on the pupils needs and the key areas affected by the rules for their age. Last Friday, Lions Sports Academy attended an ISA U11 Schools Rugby Tournament at Bedford Athletic RFC. The tournament was hosted by Rushmoor School, who we had previously encountered at a similar tournament at Littlegarth School on the Wednesday and we were honoured to have been asked to perform a skills workshop throughout the tournament. Lions Sports Academy were pleased to have been invited to the ISA contact and Touch Rugby Tournament at Littlegarth School near Colchester on Wednesday 7th November. The tournament had 8 teams involved from Littlegarth, Quinton House, Finborough, St Margarets, Colchester High School, Rushmoor and Faraday House with 4 teams each participating in the touch and contact events. Lions Sports Academy attended this year’s 2018 Active Schools Conference at Surrey Sports Park on the 6th November. It was a fantastic day out with the conference being run to support schools in their everyday PE and sport provisions, with this year’s event specifically focusing on helping teachers appreciate their influence over pupil’s long term well-being.
