Lions Add New Addition To Coaching Team - OSCAR BLANCHARD

Lions Sports Academy would like to welcome Oscar Blanchard as our latest addition to our ever expanding coaching team. Oscar is a fantastic new recruit and we look forward to working closely with him and getting to see exactly what he will bring to the Lions team.

We asked Oscar a few questions to get to know him a bit better and find out about some of his interests.....

Full name: Oscar Blanchard

How long have I been coaching: 4 months. Since August

How did I get into it and why coaching: I have always been interested in the sporting industry and my passion has always been with rugby. The coaching and management side of rugby was introduced to me through Andy Jones. He advised me to complete my Level 2 coaching course. After this I knew my coaching would be a big part of my future career and I plan on studying sport coaching and management at Bath University to further increase my knowledge of coaching.

Why Lions: Throughout my rugby career, Andy Jones (one of the founders of Lions sport academy) has been my coach. He influenced and developed the way I play rugby and was my favourite coach. I believe the whole team at Lions Sports Academy are a good example to how rugby should be coached and I hope I can give back to kids around London what they gave to me when I was younger. I’m honoured to be part of the Lions team.L

Qualifications and training: Level 2 RFU coaching qualifications. Currently studying sports and exercise science at Whitgift School. I play for London Irish U18 academy and have good experience from excellent coaches.

Coaching Goals: I hope I can make an impact on minis rugby and develop the skills of young aspiring rugby players all around London. A more personal coaching goal would be to complete the highest level of RFU rugby qualification and coach professional level rugby.

Interest and Hobbies: I enjoy playing and watching all sport. Basketball and Rugby are my two favourites. I support the LA Lakers and Harlequins and watch them all the time. I am also teaching myself to speak Spanish.
