Developing New Skills at High Wycombe &
Another successful week of summer camps has been completed after we visited High Wycombe & Old Reigatians Rugby Clubs last week. After every week of summer, so far, we have been delighted by the attitude and desire to learn from all the children who have attended our camps. Last week was no different as we entertained around 30 children, who were willing to listen to our coaches and learn new skills during their day on our camps.
Despite the horrid weather, our Athlete Development camp at Old Reigatians for Junior Boys & Girls was played out in fantastic spirit and the children responded perfectly to being put through their paces by Lions Sports Academy coaches, Katie Mason (Ex England 7s /15s & Current Wasps Player) and Ellie Miles (Harlequins Womens) throughout a number of different exercises.
These exercises ranged from 4 or 5 station endurance circuits to fun ball games that worked on agility and movement patterns. There was also an element of speed work and power built into the days with a number of exercises consisting of the use of harnesses that required the children to really drive and master their running techniques in order to pull the harness along and build momentum.
It was a fantastic two days at both clubs and this week we are back at it again with our camps at Old Wimbledonians & Bletchley RUFC.
Keep an eye out this week for our report of our camp at Old Wimbledonians RFC, where Ex England No.8 Tony Diprose came along to help coach and unload his knowledge of the game upon the children.
