Summer Camps Finish With A Blast
Lions Sports Academy summer programme came to an end last week with two non-contact 'Prepare for Contact' camps at Guildford & Teddington. They were designed to teach children aged between 8 & 10 (U9s, U10s & U11s) the correct techniques for contact and help them to understand the new rules that they will be having to deal with when the new season starts. We hoped to build up the childrens confidence throughout the two days so that they would be happy & confident enough to take the new elements of contact in their stride.
It was fantastic to see so many children come along and be willing to learn these new rules. It is vitally important that they are able to learn these new techniques so that it prevents them from causing themselves injury throughout the season. We have over 60 children across the three age-groups at both Guildford & Teddington RFC.
We would have liked to have been able to do contact but unfortunately due to it being the off-season still, we were unable too due to RFU regualtions which states that for these children, the off-season is non-contact only.
However, despite this it was a great way to end our summer programme and we can't wait to get started again in October with more exciting camps. We will be announcing some of the venues for our October camps programme on Friday 13th September via our social media channels so be sure to watch out for this.
