Lions Sports Academy and Govox have partnered to give students a proactive, holistic approach to health - combining physical and mental well-being to reduce the risk of student injury, students hitting ‘crisis point’ or possibly both.
With a clear roadmap out of lockdown, Lions ask the question: Are students both physically and mentally ready to return to school, let alone competitive sport?
Studies highlight increased levels of distress, worry and anxiety in school children due to lockdown. Coupled with a decrease in children’s physical literacy, it is no great surprise that the Government has decided to prioritise the return of children’s sport and physical activities. With this in mind, Lions has joined forces with GoVox, the online mental health and wellbeing platform, to give students the best possible chance of bouncing back from issues exacerbated over the last year as quickly and safely as possible.
Using state-of-the-art technology, Lions and GoVox will work simultaneously with schools to improve physical and mental health. Lions will conduct a ‘Physical Health Check’, which uses a peak height velocity measurement and an average score from several bodyweight challenges to understand students’ physical needs. These scores facilitate the creation of a ‘physical passport’ for each student, allowing for tailored training and development according to their physical needs. Lions then work with the school to set goals and improve health, wellness and performance throughout the school.
Concurrently, Govox will use its online platform, which focuses on enabling ‘actionable insights’, to improve the mental health of students within the school. Through weekly ‘Wellbeing Check Ins’, GoVox helps to identify areas of stress in schools through data, feeding this back to school leaders so that they can allocate support where it is needed most.
Lions look forward to creating a positive, long-lasting partnership with GoVox!
