We are thrilled to announce that Lions Sports Academy will be supporting the inaugural John Fisher School Invitational State School Rugby Festival! This exciting event will bring together 12 talented teams from across the country, offering a platform for state school rugby players to showcase their skills on a national stage.
Lions Sports Academy will be running its innovative TackleTEK programme throughout the festival. This will include an interactive tackle game for both players and spectators, promoting safer and more enjoyable rugby. TackleTEK will also provide in-depth rugby tackling analysis for all teams in attendance, ensuring a focus on player safety and performance.
Andy Jones, Founder of Lions Sports Academy, shared his passion for supporting this event:

What is TackleTEK?
TackleTEK is a research-backed rugby coaching programme designed to improve tackling safety and technique for young players. With over 50% of rugby injuries occurring during tackles, TackleTEK focuses on reducing injury risk through hands-on training, video analysis, and performance metrics. The programme also offers tailored professional development for coaches, ensuring they can teach safe, effective tackling.
In partnership with Swansea University, over 200 young players participated in a 10-week programme, showing a 40% improvement in tackling competency. TackleTEK is a proactive solution for schools to address parental concerns and create a safer, more enjoyable rugby environment.
