Lions Coaches Shine As Harlequins Ladies Reach Tyrrells Premier 15s Final

Harlequins Ladies soured into the Tyrrells Premier 15s final with a 26-10 victory over Loughborough Lightenings at The Twickenham Stoop. They will now play Saracens Womens at Franklins Gardens, Northampton, on the 27th April. The final will be a rematch of last year's final in which Saracens edged out Harlequins in a tightly fought contest.

It was a great day all round as Lions Sports Academy were represented by 4 of our coaches. Harlequins scrum half & Lions ambassador Leanne Riley rounded off a fantastic overall performance with a brilliant opportunist try in the second half. Having been awarded a penalty 5 metres from the Loughborough try line, Leanne caught the Loughborough defence out by taking a quick tap penalty and beat a handful of defenders to squeeze her way underneath the posts. That try made the score 26-5 and all but secured Harlequins place in the final. Despite a late try from Loughborough the result was never in doubt.

Lions coaches Chloe Butler (Australia) & Holly Myers (Ex-England Rugby League) came off the bench for Harlequins & both put in stellar performances to help Harlequins maintain their lead and guide them to the final. Fly Half Ellie Green, who has also coached for Lions, put in a measured & mature performance, pulling the strings and continuosly allowing her team to maintain their front-foot dominace that had been created by their forward pack.

Overall, it was a fantastic day for both Harlequins Ladies & Lions Sports Academy and we can't wait to see how they go in the final. Good luck ladies, hope you bring home the title!
