Coronavirus lockdown statement

Following the Government’s announcement that the UK will be heading into a month-long lockdown from Thursday, we would like to issue the following statement.

At Lions Sports Academy we understand the importance of health over anything else. Being healthy also means being active. It’s what we do best.

The Government also understands the importance of remaining active and it has been confirmed that outdoor physical activity can continue, provided you only mix with a maximum of one person from one other household.

Non-elite level sport has been placed on hold for this period. This means that we will not be able to deliver coaching sessions in larger groups at the sports clubs we currently work with.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson also announced that educational establishments will remain open during this lockdown period. This means the schools we currently work with will remain open.

What this means for you

We want to continue to provide the same high standards of coaching we have always offered during this period. It’ll just have to be a little different!

As only one household can currently mix with another this will clearly have an impact on the way we deliver our coaching services.

We are currently devising a strategy to be able to continue to deliver 1-2-1 coaching. This is likely to involve parents being present at a session but remaining outside a 10 metre radius from our coaches. When we have a clearer picture of how this will function, we will update you.

As all non-elite level sport has been placed on hold, it will be unlikely that we will be able to deliver coaching sessions to clubs. We are currently in talks to develop an online platform to deliver live coaching sessions via video links. Further information on this will be sent to clubs and published on our website later this week.

If you are interested in taking part in online coaching sessions please get in touch using info@lionssports.academy.

Schools are currently in social ‘bubbles’ - with pupils and teachers forming part of these ‘bubbles’. It is likely that our coaches will be included in this and, therefore, they will be able to continue to deliver their services in schools.

We are working closely with our school and club partnerships to find the best solution for all parties involved. Our coaches will continue to social distance, wash their hands and wear face coverings where appropriate.

What it means for the future

We are all living in uncertain times. After this lockdown period is over, we will be continuing with business in the ‘new normal.

That means we will once again be delivering all our coaching services with our partner schools, clubs and on an individual basis.

We are aiming to run sports camps in the Christmas school holidays over December and during the February half-term break, we are still developing our Physical Maturity programme, and our continued partnership with Online Arenas and England Rugby Sevens is still growing from strength to strength.

To support the England Rugby Sevens squad and help them reach the next Olympic Games in Tokyo, you can subscribe and support them at OnlineArenas.com

If you would like to book a 1-2-1 coaching session with us or are interested in taking part in online coaching sessions, please email info@lionssports.academy or call 02034245070.

Thanks for your patience and support through these continued uncertain times.
