Lions Sports Academy summer programme came to an end last week with two non-contact 'Prepare for Contact' camps at Guildford & Teddington. They were designed to teach children aged between 8 & 10 (U9s, U10s & U11s) the correct techniques for contact and help them to understand the new rules that they will be having to deal with when the new season starts. We hoped to build up the childrens confidence throughout the two days so that they would be happy & confident enough to take the new elements of contact in their stride.
It was fantastic to see so many ch..
On Monday, Lions Sports Academy had the privilege of Ex England & Harlequins No.8 Tony Diprose coming along to help coach at the first day of our camp at Wimbledonian Warriors. It was a brilliant day and it was great to have the expertise of Tony along to help coach and provide unlimited advice to the children throughout the day.
With Tony having played professional rugby for over a decade for both England, Saracens & Harlequins, and then been part of the Harlequins coaching set up for another decade until the end of the 2018/19 season, he is someone who has an abundency of ru..
Another successful week of summer camps has been completed after we visited High Wycombe & Old Reigatians Rugby Clubs last week. After every week of summer, so far, we have been delighted by the attitude and desire to learn from all the children who have attended our camps. Last week was no different as we entertained around 30 children, who were willing to listen to our coaches and learn new skills during their day on our camps.
Despite the horrid weather, our Athlete Development camp at Old Reigatians for Junior Boys & Girls was played out in fantastic spirit and the children resp..

The second block of our 2019 summer camps is in full swing with camps at Guildford Rugby Club & Windsor Rugby Club running throughout this week. We have seen a great turnout across both camps and it has been great to see so many kids out and about playing rugby during the summer holidays.
This is especially important to us as we pride ourselves on trying to make a difference in a young persons life and to give them a chance to develop as a person not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. We are hugely passionate on building a child's or young persons confidence..
Our 2019 summer camps began with a bang last week with two fantastic minis & juniors camps at, firstly, Aylesbury RFC and then Ely RFC. With the sun shining, it was the perfect way to get our summer programme, of over 15 camps in the next 7 weeks, started.
Our summer camps are always the highlight of the year for us and it was great to see so many children come out and have fun on both of the camps. There was a mixture of technical work and fun games throughout the camps and our aim was all about getting the kids to think about what they were try to do and to have fun, which would..
