Introducing Our Latest Coach - Edward Hansell

Lions Sports Academy would like to formally welcome Edward Hansell to our coaching team. We are throughouly looking forward to working with him and we are excited to see what he can do when given the chance. 

Lions conducted a brief interview with Edward to get to know him a bit better as he joins the team and see why he got into coaching and what he's passionate about.  

Full name: Edward Hansell

How long have you been coaching?

Has been coaching for 2 years beginning at Seaford College working with the junior School.

Edward hopes to be able to help others become successful at Rugby and potentially even help a team to win National Cup for School Boys. Coaching allows me to be involved with rugby as much as possible.

How did you get into it and why coaching?

Got into coaching by playing lots of rugby since he was 6 years at Ealing Trailing Finders. Inspired by his dad who was his coach up until 12 years old. Would love to play professionally if not coaching as a full time career. When I was young I went and watched Harlequins and was inspired by Nick Easter.Edward currently plays back row for Old Priorians RFC.

Why Lions?

I will be able to coach a range of different age groups, playing ability and teams throughout coaching at lions. This will allow me to improve my coaching as much as possible.

Qualifications and training?

Level 2 RFU Rugby Coaching Award

Coaching Goals?

To become a teacher and coach a high level school boy 1st XV. Or to become a full time coach for a professional team.

Interests and Hobbies?

Play rugby

Enjoy sailing and also coaching others to sail.
