If you are looking to constantly improve your coaching techniques or struggle to plan a weekend training session around your busy day to day schedule, then look no further than Lions Sports Academy's 'Coach the Coaches' masterclasses.
Lions Sports Academy are working with our partner clubs to offer complimentary coaching to the coaches to build confidence, provide ideas and create a sharing environment in the clubs to give the best experience possible for the kids on a weekend!
Lions Sports Academy works with sports clubs and organisations to build teachers, coaches, players and parents confidence through sport.
Lions Coach the Coaches / Coaches Masterclass sessions are a fun, engaging and interactive way of upskilling coaches, especially at grassroots clubs where the majority of coaches are committed parents who give up their free time so that clubs all over the country can train and play fixtures on a weekly basis. These parent coaches are often fitting coaching around a busy work schedule meaning time for planning and preparation is limited. Lions Coach the Coaches sessions have been designed with the clubs individual aims at the forefront, focussing on a specific area or age group(s).
“As a coach I am always looking to improve and gather new information that will help with my coaching sessions and fit around my busy day-to-day schedule. It was great to have the opportunity to be able to attend one of Lions 'coach the coaches' masterclasses and gain a better understanding of emerging coaching techniques. The masterclass helped me to plan and prepare for my weekend coaching sessions, and I certainly feel confident in being able to go away and try new things after attending a 'coach the coaches' masterclass with Lions."
Keith Malone, OWW U11 Lead Coach
The session will have a small section of theoretical coaching, where the Lions team member will be able to evaluate the room and establish the expectations of each group and what their motivation to attend the course was to make sure that we give the best value that we can, so that the coaches can go away from the session with more ideas and feeling more confident to try new things at training. The meat of the session is done practically where parent coaches will be delivered to and also given the opportunity to deliver to the rest of the group. After the session is completed, there is a short debrief and Q&A over a beer in the clubhouse!
Topic areas include:
Coaching through Games
New Rules of Play - age grade specific
U9s Transition to Contact
U10’s Rucking and Mauling
Youth Strength and Conditioning
*Sessions can also be designed bespoke for your club if you have a specific need*
